Surah Yaseen is one of the surahs that we should read daily due to its many virtues, which we will learn in this article.

Surah Yaseen was revealed in Macca with only 83 verses. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessing be upon him) said:

“Without a doubt, everything shows at least a bit of kindness. And the core of the Quran is Yaseen Surah. I might want that it be in the core of each adherent of my ummah.”

Our beloved prophet instructs us to read it and he shows us its many benefits through the hadiths. So, let’s learn more about it.

The virtue of reading Surah Yaseen

A virtue of reciting Surah Yaseen is to be granted the wishes we want to happen even if it seems impossible because nothing is impossible to Allah.

The prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) said “One who recites Surah Yaseen in the morning, Allah Almighty will be responsible for fulfilling all his needs.”

Another thing that our prophet taught us about reading surah Yaseen is what we see in the following hadith:

“Whoever discussed Surah Yaseen in the late evening looking for Allah’s endorsement, Allah would excuse him.”

Allah will reward us by answering our calls when reading surah Yaseen in the middle of the night and asking for his help and wishing for forgiveness and mercy. What’s more important is to read surah Yaseen with faith that Allah will help us.

Reading the Quran generally eases the mind and gives us peace. Imagine if you read surah Yaseen with complete confidence that Allah will forgive you, how will you feel afterward? You will be fully relieved. So whatever you do and the mistakes or sins you commit, just be sure to ask God for forgiveness and try your best to stay away from repeating the same mistake again. Allah will forgive you, be confident of that.

The prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) said:

“Whoever pursues Surah Yaseen, Allah rewards him that is equivalent to that of perusing the entire Quran.”

Reading surah Yaseen is equivalent to reading the entire Quran. This reward gives you more than you can ever imagine. So, make sure to read surah Yaseen daily, and you shall be rewarded.

Reciting Surah Yasin for the ones we lost is essential, our prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) said:

“Recount Yaseen on the individuals who are biting the dust.”

Also, the prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) said that reading surah Yaseen grants our wishes:

“Whoever pursues Surah Yaseen toward the start of the day, every one of his requirements for that day would be satisfied.”

Those were just a few of the many virtues of reading Surah Yaseen. As you can see, we should read the surah every day. And if you don’t know how to read Quran you can learn Quran online but until then read its English translation and listen to your favorite reciter.

Hadith about reading surah Yaseen and its benefits

Our beloved prophet (peace and blessing be upon him said):

One of the benefits of reading surah Yaseen every day is for fulfilling our wishes. As the prophet, Muhammad said, “One who recites Surah Yaseen in the morning, Allah Almighty will be responsible for fulfilling all his needs.”

“Everything has a heart, and the heart of the Quran is Yasin; whoever reads it, it is as if he has read the Quran ten times.”

“Whoever reads Surah Yasin in one night will be forgiven in the morning.”

“Whoever continues to read it every night then dies, will die as a shahid (martyr).”

“Whoever enters the graveyard and reads Surah Ya-Sin, their (punishment) will be reduced that day, and he will have hasanat (reward) equal to the number of people in the graveyard.”

Abu Hurayrah narrated that the Messenger of God (peace and blessing be upon him) said:

مَنْ قَرَأَ يس فِي لَيْلَةٍ أَصْبَحَ مَغْفُورًا لَهُ، وَمَنْ قَرَأَ حم الَّتِي يُذْكَرُ فِيهَا الدُّخَانُ أَصْبَحَ مَغْفُورًا لَه

“Whoever recites Yaseen in the night, will wake up forgiven by the Grace of God, and whoever recites Ha Mim in which Dukhan/Smoke is mentioned, by the Grace of God, will wake up forgiven.”

Anas narrated that God’s Messenger (peace and blessing be upon him) said, “Everything has a heart and the heart of the Holy Quran is Yaseen. God will record anyone who recites Yaseen as having recited the Holy Quran ten times.”

What does Surah Yaseen teach us?

Surah Yaseen tells us about the people of the town who refused to believe the three prophets who were sent to them. Only one man believed the prophets and he was killed at the hands of the people of the town. The man then was rewarded with paradise for his strong faith and sacrifice.

We learn from this story that we should always follow the right path, don’t go on the wrong path just because everyone chose it. Have courage and always choose the path that leads to Allah.

When should you read Surah Yaseen?

You can read Surah Yaseen at any time what is important is to read it. But the best time to recite the holy Quran as mentioned in the Quran is at Fajar. Other great times are reading it at night or at midnight. Just remember you can read Quran at any time you don’t have to read it just at night. You will be rewarded whenever you read the Quran.

Surah Yaseen summary

Surah Yasin discusses many topics but mainly it shows us that there is no God but Allah, sending warnings to the people of Mecca of what will happen to them for not believing the prophet.

At the beginning of the surah, Allah tells the prophet that he sent him to guide the people to the right path. But even though the prophet was sent by Allah his people didn’t believe him. And that they will never believe him as if there was a barrier stopping them from seeing the truth or even hearing it.

Allah shows what happened to the people of the town who were sent to them three messengers but they still didn’t believe them. In the end, they were punished for their disbelief.

This is how it was in the past and so it keeps repeating itself, people always choose to disbelieve the prophets no matter how many miracles they see. Then Allah tells us about his powers and what he has given us.  Allah shows us how the afterlife will be for both believers and disbelievers.
